Dr. Mark D. Henry
Owner and CEO of Primary Vision Care
Mark Henry received his Doctor of Optometry Degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1993 and has been practicing for over 25 years. In addition, Dr. Henry received his Bachelor of the Arts degree in English from Kenyon College and has attended Ohio State University for Post Graduate continuing education.
Dr. Henry’s professional experience includes externship stints at the Chicago Osteopathic Medical Center, the Illinois Eye Institute, the Illinois Visually Handicapped Institute and Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind. Dr. Henry is certified in the diagnosis, treatment and management of ocular disease and has worked extensively in the pre-operative and post-operative management with cataract and laser refractive surgery.
Dr. Henry has served as a member of the Ohio Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry and the American Optometric Association. His awards include membership in the Gold Key Optometric Honor Society, former Leadership and Service scholar and Illinois Alumnus of the Year.
Dr. Henry owns and operates Primary Vision Care offices in Newark, Mount Vernon and Lancaster, Ohio while residing in the area with his wife and four children.
Jennifer M. Annon, O.D.
Jennifer M. Annon, O.D. received her Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology with a concentration in molecular genetics from The Ohio State University in 1999. In 2014, she received her Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry.
Dr. Jennifer Annon obtained training at Faith Mission Outreach Eye Clinic, Erdey Searcy Eye Group, and Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center. This professional experience allows for a personalized approach to managing complex ocular diseases and ocular manifestations of systemic diseases, and pre- and post- operative patient care. Dr. Annon operates at our Primary Vision Care office Lancaster.
Dr. Sarah Gliniecki
majors on Biology and Mathematics. She was granted early acceptance to the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University and completed her education there in 2016. Dr. Gliniecki rotated through Battle Creek Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center, Michigan State University Neuro-Ophthalmology, Rosenbaum Eye and Laser Center, and Duane Waters Hospital with the Michigan Department of Corrections. She then went on to an ocular disease residency program through the Specialty Eye Institute with an emphasis on cataract, cornea, and refractive surgery co-management, glaucoma, diabetes, and retina services. During this time, she gave continuing education presentations to optometrists and optometric staff and has a passion for educating patients to create a complete understanding of their eye health.
Dr. Courtney Hammond
Dr. Courtney Hammond is an optometrist in our Newark location and practices family optometry with a special interest in pediatrics and specialty contact lenses. Dr. Hammond was born and raised in Newark, Ohio and joined our practice initially during her high school years as a technician and front desk assistant. She attended Licking Valley High School where she ultimately graduated with honors as the salutatorian of her class. She then went on to Miami University (OH) where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in zoology and was actively involved in various organizations and extracurricular activities including research in visual psychophysics. Dr. Hammond earned her Doctorate of Optometry degree as a cum laude graduate of the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio, Texas. During her time there, Courtney was the recipient of several awards recognizing her academic and clinical excellence and was invited into the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society and the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. She also served as student body president, lead teaching assistant of clinical skills to her fellow colleagues and received the university leadership award for her class.
Dr. Hammond completed externships in several different modes of practice throughout her education. She studied at the Southern Eye Institute in Memphis, Tennessee where she gained a strong understanding of ocular disease and treatment. While there, she participated in tertiary eye care including comprehensive eye examinations, glaucoma, retinal, cataract and Lasik evaluations, and helped manage pre- and post-operative visits. Dr. Hammond also completed externships at the UIW Eye Institute, the San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind, and the Fayetteville VA Hospital in North Carolina where she gained valuable experience in the diagnosis of eye disease as it pertains to overall systemic health. Following graduation, Dr. Hammond returned to join our private practice and has participated in patient care in all three of our locations.
Dr. Hammond now resides in Westerville with her husband and their puppy. When she is not in clinic, she prefers to spend quality time with her extended family and friends and she also enjoys traveling, volunteering within the community and attending concerts and sporting events (especially anything in Cleveland).
Dr. Aaron Thomas
Aaron Thomas, O.D. grew up in central Illinois where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Illnois at Urbana-Champaign. He later earned a Bachelor degree in Vision Science and his Doctorate of Optometry degrees at Nova Southern University. Dr. Thomas completed rotations at Dorn Medical VA Hospital and the Eye Centers of South Florida. During that time, he focused on treatment and management of ocular diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other conditions. He also saw pediatric and contact lens patients during rotations at the NSU Vision Clinic fitting a variety of soft and hard specialty lenses. Dr. Thomas is a proud member of the American Optometric Association and the Ohio Optometric Association and is currently practicing in Wilmington, OH.
